  • What are Alcohol Monitors and How Do They Work?

Continuous alcohol monitoring technology is designed to monitor alcohol consumption among offenders who consume alcohol. Often used as a sanction applied to drunk drivers, this device monitors and measures alcohol consumption. These are now used by the courts to oversee people who have been ordered not to drink alcohol.

There are a few different types of alcohol monitors. One type is worn around the person’s ankle to monitor alcohol consumption 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Another type of alcohol monitor can be placed in the person’s car, which requires the person to call in and repeat a complex sentence to prove sobriety and coherence. Lastly, another type known as a Breathalyzer requires a driver blow into the device to monitor the blood alcohol level.

    How do Alcohol Monitors Work?

The ankle bracelet works by monitoring the wearer’s perspiration every 30 minutes. The device is similar to a Breathalyzer, which by determining the level of alcohol in the person’s body. If the defendant tests positive for alcohol, the company reports it to AA Professional Bail Bonding.
